As most of you will be aware a four-day bank holiday weekend will mark the Queen’s platinum jubilee next summer to celebrate the monarch’s 70 years on the throne. The extended bank holiday will run from Thursday 2nd June to Sunday 5th June. Like many local authorities Woodbridge Town Council are planning public events to mark this occasion, with a community carnival style event proposed for Friday 3rd June.
A key part of this event would be to encourage local organisations to showcase themselves, as happened at the Woodbridge on Show events in 2017 and 2019. This email is being sent to the organisations on our contacts database usually used to send invitations to the Remembrance Service, in the hope of gaining from you a feel for the level of interest for a public showcase.
The very early ideas are an outdoor event with organisations permitted to bring gazebos, tables, flags, signs etc, and for a number of rows/ streets of organisations to be created on the field. Performances, exhibitions, talks etc would be encouraged. We are also hoping to have live music, local food vendors and fairground type entertainment, although nothing is confirmed as yet, especially in the midst of the current pandemic.
If this is an event you would be interested in participating then the Town Clerk would be grateful to hear from you. All ideas are welcome at this stage!
